The interior and the shopfront of one store: warm timber and handmade texture inside, a calm, light portal outside.
Design the OM shop as a whole — from the street entrance to the back-of-house rooms. The sales floor needed wall displays for different product groups, an island and a cash desk; behind it, an office for staff and a toilet. The entrance was a task of its own: the premises sit below pavement level.
The sales floor is arranged around a timber island with drawers. Shelving with arched niches and lighting on every shelf lines the walls, and the cash desk is faced with carved panels in a wave relief. Woven pendants hang over the island, and a timber ceiling feature carries linear lighting. Outside there is a glazed canopy along the façade, a sign and an illuminated descent to the door.
The project consists of two albums. The interior runs to 32 sheets: survey, demolition and new partitions, layout, floors, ceilings, lighting and electrics, elevations, shopfitting drawings and visualisations. The shopfront takes 16 sheets: survey, demolition, finishes, a paving plan and visualisations in daylight and evening light.
The office is planned for four desks: tables along the walls, pedestals and open shelves in the same timber as the sales floor. The toilet is finished in light plaster with a timber vanity, a full-height arched mirror and a round mirror above the basin. Outside the entrance stand planters with flowers, and the stairs down are clad in light stone.

Five decisions in the shop
A timber island with drawers provides display and storage at once; customers walk all the way around it.
Shelving with arched niches and lit shelves sorts the stock into groups without signage.
The wave-relief front makes the cash desk the main object on the floor.
Woven pendants over the island, linear light in the ceiling feature and lighting on every shelf.
A glazed canopy, a sign and an illuminated descent make the entrance visible from the street by day and in the evening.
